Grassroots involvement is essential in our country. One of the most dangerous things to happen in our land is for men and women to not be involved in shaping public life. Many of the travesties of justice have been allowed by our lack of involvement. We need not look further than the 2000 Presidential election turmoil to see the importance of local involvement and the importance of every vote. Politics involves more than just voting, but affecting change in the governing of these United States. We need to be involved in making a difference. We need to start on the local level to affect real change.

It is essential that we understand the issues and positions and how they affect us and others. We must keep ourselves informed and help others stay updated as well. With the Internet and email it is now so easy to accomplish this goal. We no longer have to rely on the TV alone.

Value-added Voting ~ Time Commitment: Low
Voting is our duty and we ought to involve others in this process. Inviting others to vote is crucial. An easy goal is to educate and get 15 others to vote based on principle.

We live in a representative republic. Our elected officials are voted in by us and are there to serve as the Constitution provides. Whether we feel it or not, they will listen to us. Direct contact in person, by phone, mail or email does have an affect.

Contacting the Media ~ Time Commitment: Low
The media affects society and influences people's opinion. There are many voices that are promoting opposing values and even downright lies. Left unanswered, some will be lead astray. We ought to be ready and able to answer these lies - let your voice be heard.

Suggestion: Write letters to the editor and call in local talk shows.

Leadership ~ Time Commitment: Medium
Many organizations focus on local activism but often lack leadership to give right direction. People of Republican ideals need to be positions of leadership in community organizations.

Suggestion: The Republican Party is always seeking people with a willingness to serve - contact us.

Campaigning ~ Time Commitment: Medium to High
There are many wonderful candidates who seek to be elected. Every candidate needs men and women of character serving and supporting them.
